A local professional haS set up a unique service to equip animal lovers with the skills and confidence to cope with any unexpected and potentially dangerous situation.
Furbabies First Aid is the brainchild of local vet Aoife Morrow. Although still in her twenties, Aoife is fully qualified and many years of professional experience in veterinary care.
As Aoife Morrow explains, it’s a direct response to an identified need among pet owners. ‘Furbabies First Aid is in no way aimed at replacing professional veterinary consultation and treatment,’ she explains, ‘but is specifically designed to provide pet owners with the theoretical and practical skills to cope in an emergency situation that can be dangerous and distressing for pet and owner alike. Client consultation has shown that many owners feel they wouldn’t know how best to cope in an emergency involving their dog or cat. Furbabies First Aid delivers those basic skills in a single, three hour theoretical and practical session which also includes a Q and A session offering individual, professional advice.’
‘All the details will be updated regularly on our Facebook page. We are confident we have identified a need in the pet owning community that we are professionally trained to meet, and look forward to welcoming our first clients in a few weeks’ time. We intend to empower pet lovers to have the confidence and skill set to know that, in an emergency, they have the tools to do their very best for their do or cat. After all, it’s impossible to put a price on a beloved pet’s health and wellbeing- and perhaps survival.’
Our Pet First Aid Course is fully CPD certified and we are a CPD accredited learning centre. The course counts for 3 hours worth of Continuing Professional Development or 3 points.
